Children of Morta is a roguelike hack and slash game where you experience the events and lives of the members of the last remaining family (the Bergsons) who live close to the now corrupted Mount Morta. This game has a novel way to integrate narrative and adventure into an action roguelike game where you will feel the joy and sorrow of the family members, slay the demonic creatures and follow their story helping each other to find a way to cure the corruption and reveal the secrets.

Background[edit | edit source]

The family have lived on the outskirts of Mount Morta, guarding it for many generations. As a tragic event in Morta corrupts the roots of life deep in the mountain and since the corruption of the god of Mount Morta, his rage and anger has turned all the Creatures into sick, furious monsters. The Bergson family, guardians of Mount Morta, live in their house at the mountain side. They try to reach the peak of the cursed mountain to find out what happened to its god and how they can change his doomed fate! Now the land's only hope is for the Bergsons to find the seeds of life and use them to cleanse the corruption.

The game has a unique art style blending the old-school 2D pixel art aesthetics with a few modern lighting and rendering techniques bringing to life a world of fantasy and mystery. The game music is based around orchestral renaissance tunes with many variations to please your ears while taking this journey with the Bergsons.
